Holly Willoughby Should Quit This Morning To Save The Show
- A poll with 1000 readers in London, Manchester, Grimsby, Boston, Skegness, Chester, Lincoln, and Liverpool found viewers don’t want Holly Willoughby presenting This Morning
With the news that Phillip Schofield has quit the This Morning show, viewers are now calling on Holly Willoughby to do the right thing and quit.
With all the stories of infighting between Holly and Phillip Schofield, it was widely expected that ITV would force one or both presenters to leave the show. Phillip Schofield who failed to mention Holly in his resignation did the right thing in resigning after 20 years, but Holly is staying put.
Phillip Schofield said in his statement:
Mr Schofield said: ‘I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.
‘Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.
‘I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.
‘So, I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.
‘I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers.’ He made no mention of Ms Willoughby.
During the past couple of weeks, it has not just been Phillip Schofield who has come under fire, Holly has also been criticised.
Last week we reported that This Morning lost nearly 200,000 viewers and more threatened to turn off if ITV didn’t take action. Even though Phillip has left, viewers are still not happy and are calling on ITV to replace Holly Willoughby and bring in two fresh faced presenters.
On saturday we did a poll with 1000 readers in London, Manchester, Grimsby, Boston, Skegness, Chester, Lincoln, and Liverpool. We asked them if they wanted Holly Willoughby to quit the This Morning Show and 68% of them said yes. When asked who they would like to replace Phillip and Holly, Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond came out on top.
After it was reported that Phillip Schofield told friends that ITV and Holly Willoughby left him out to dry and after it was reported that Kim Woodburn said Holly Willioughby must quit This Morning, we decided today (21st May 2023) to run the poll again. This time 75% of those who took part in the Poll said Holly Willoughby should resign.
ITV believe with Phillip Schofield leaving the This Morning show their troubles are over. However, according to the viewers and our two polls, their troubles could just be beginning.
