Man From Spalding Jailed Over Petrol Station Burglary

  • Two Lincolnshire men jailed over petrol station burglary

 

A man from Spalding has been jailed with his accomplice after they tried to steal a till from a Boston petrol station.

Police were alerted to the incident at the Esso garage in John Adams Way just before 11pm on Wednesday, August 18th, as we previously reported.

Darren Matthews, 49, of Double Street in Spalding and Marcus Roberts-Fogarty, 37, of Bakewell Street in Donington, both admitted a charge of non-dwelling burglary.

Both men attempted to make off with the till but were apprehended by Lincolnshire Police before they could escape.

Darren Matthews, who asked for another offence to be taken into consideration was sentenced to 32 months in Prison at Lincoln Crown Court.

Roberts-Fogarty, who asked for four other offences to be taken into consideration was jailed for three years.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We would like to thank the public for their speedy reporting of this incident which led to these arrests.”
