Lincolnshire Parents Ignore School Absence Fines

Parents Say They Will Continue To Take Children Out Of School To Save Money On Holidays The Government will increase the fines for parents taking children out of school from £60 to £80. Parents in Lincolnshire have said the increase will not stop them from taking their children out of school during term-time.   Would being fined by the Government stop you from taking your children out of school to save money on a family holiday? According to our research, the answer is no. With the cost-of-living crisis and the rising costs of holidays abroad and in the UK, more parents than ever before are now taking their children out of school during term time. The Government believes the answer to tackling parents taking their children out of school to save money on a family holiday is to fine them. But, with nearly 400,000 penalty notices issued to parents in England between 2022-23, it shows the fine system is not working. Instead of listening to parents, the Government believes the answer to tackling the school absence problem is to raise the fine. From August 2024 parents will be forced to pay a fine of £80 instead of £60. But will it stop parents taking their children out of school to save money on a family holiday? (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || ).push({}); According to the parents we have spoken to in Skegness, Lincoln, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Spalding, and Boston, the fine increase will not deter them. Out of the 100 parents, we asked, 82%...

Lincolnshire Caravan Owners Struggle To Compete With Haven

Caravan Owners Can’t Compete With Lincolnshire Haven Low Holiday Prices Hundreds of Lincolnshire Haven caravan owners are struggling to compete against low holiday deals. Caravan owners are calling on Haven to lower site fees to allow them to compete. Haven, which has 38 caravan parks around the UK including in Skegness, Cleethorpes, and Mablethorpe have drastically lowered their holiday prices this year, which is good news for holidaymakers but bad news for private caravan owners. With prices as low as £69 for a four-night stay and £169 for a seven-night stay at a Lincolnshire Haven caravan park, it’s no wonder why so many caravan owners have become worried. With some site fees costing more than £6,000 a year, many caravan owners rely on renting out their holiday home to help cover the cost. But this year with so many cheap offers available from Haven, many caravan owners fear it could be their last year with a huge drop in bookings. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || ).push({}); Lincolnshire Haven caravan owners have been contacting Lincolnshire News Today to share how they are struggling to compete. One caravan owner on Haven Cleethorpes Beach holiday park (formerly known as Thorpe Park) told Lincolnshire News Today that she is worried about being able to pay her site fees. “I rely on renting out my caravan to help cover the cost of the site fees but this year I have only managed to rent out my van twice.” Sue who has owned a caravan for more than...
