  • There are more than 100 Covid Patients in Northern Lincolnshire Hospitals

Northern Lincolnshire’s Hospital Trust has today announced they have more than 100 COVID patients in their hospitals. However, even with the high number of COVID patents they have said they are not in danger of declaring a major incident.

Although Northern Lincolnshire’s Hospital Trust has said there are not in danger of declaring a major incident, Hull Health and Social Services had to due to the lack of staff.

The Lincolnshire Hospital Trust which runs Grimsby and Scunthorpe hospitals do have a staffing problem but say they are dealing with the situation. They currently have 295 people off work with 69 of them with COVID related issues.

There are 103 people in hospital with COVID but only 25 of those were admitted with COVID being the main reason.

In Grimsby, Diana Princess Of Wales Hospital there are 42 COVID patients with one of those in ICU. In Scunthorpe there are 55 COVID patients and six patients with COVID are in Goole.

One of the big problems the hospital trust is facing is beds being taken up by care home residents. They are well enough to return to their care home but cannot be discharged to due to the outbreak of COVID in the care homes.

On a positive note, the number of Omicron cases are now falling.

COVID cases in North East Lincolnshire which covers Grimsby, Cleethorpes and other areas have dropped by 28 per cent from the previous week. North Lincolnshire also saw their COVID cases drop by 27 per cent.
