  • Amazon to stop accepting Visa Credit Cards

Some bad news for Bourne Amazon fans. Amazon has today announced that from January 2022 they will no longer be accepting Visa Credit Cards as a where to purchase goods.

This will have a huge impact on those living in Bourne and the rest of Lincolnshire who purchase goods from Amazon using their Visa Credit Cards.

Amazon has said from 19th January 2022, customers who pay for goods using their Visa Credit Cards will have to find another card to purchase goods.

According to a Spokesman for Amazon, the reason why they are stop accepting payment via Visa Credit Cards is due to how expensive the transaction fees are.

There has been a long running dispute between Amazon and the credit card company with neither company coming to a solution.

Visa said it was “very disappointed that Amazon is threatening to restrict consumer choice in the future”.

In an email to UK customers, Amazon said: “Starting 19 January 2022, we will unfortunately no longer accept Visa credit cards issued in the UK, due to the high fees Visa charges for processing credit card transactions.

“You can still use debit cards (including Visa debit cards) and non-Visa credit cards like Mastercard, Amex, and Eurocard to make purchases.”

Amazon also asked customers to update payment methods, including for Prime membership and any subscriptions.
