Police Hunt Boston Co-op Ram Raiders

  • Ram raiders smash into Lincolnshire village Co-op shop in early hours of October 11th

 

Lincolnshire Police are hunting for ram raiders who crashed through the shutters of a Boston Co-op food store in Church Road, Old Leake.

The incident happened on Monday, October 11th, at around 3am. Police believe the aim of the ram raiders was to steal the cash machine.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said the raiders used a vehicle to smash through the shutters but got away empty-handed. They also confirmed that the raiders had not been arrested and they are still searching for the culprits.  

“We received reports that a vehicle had crashed into a store at around 3.08am causing damage to the doors.

“The location given was Co-Op on Church Road, Old Leake, Boston.

“An attempt was made on the ATM, but nothing appears to have been stolen from the premises.

“We have not yet made any arrests.”

The local community are shocked by the incident.

Lincolnshire Co-op confirmed the incident. They said the damage caused by the ram raid included the shutters, store winder, and some internal fixtures and fittings.

Police are asking if anyone was in the area and spotted anything suspicious or know who was behind the ramraid should contact them on 101 or email force.control@lincs.police.uk quoting incident reference 28 of October 11.
