The Flash Hotel is one of the new hotels in Benidorm with a perfect location for the beach and the great entertainment that is on offer. In an ideal world, this hotel should be one of the best in Benidorm, but according to reviews over the past twelve months, there is a problem.
A lot of the reviews on popular review platforms, especially the recent ones have said some staff are rude, the food is terrible, and there is a lack of security. So, we decided to find out if these reviews painted a true picture of the Flash Hotel by speaking to a Benidorm Regular.
John Cooper knows Benidorm more than most, not only has he stayed in many of the hotels, he has also lived on the outskirts of Benidorm in a wonderful place called Albir. So, if anyone knew what a hotel should provide and if the reviews were true, he was the man in the know.
In2town Travel Magazine caught up with John where he shared his recent experience of The Flash Hotel in Benidorm.
John, you have just returned from the Flash Hotel in Benidorm, what made you decide to book that particular hotel? I booked the hotel Flash on reviews, the area it’s in, and the jet 2 luggage service, plus I liked the idea that it was an adult only hotel.
What was your first impressions of the Flash Hotel? What can I say! First impression of the room, is that it faced a wall and we had booked partial sea view which was the other side of the hotel. So, within 5 minutes we had changed rooms, not a good start to a holiday.
Did you receive a welcoming experience by the hotel reception? First impressions count and normally staff at the reception of hotels are very friendly, but not this one. The welcoming was non-existent, here’s your key that’s it. It was like going to a relative’s house who didn’t really want you there.
What did you think of your room after they moved you? The room we moved into was roomy with two double beds. But, it looked like someone had spit all over the balcony glass, it all needed a good clean
How did you find the facilities at the Flash Hotel? The facilities were dated to say the least. The Benidorm Flash Hotel only has three lifts for twelve floors and they are very slow and old. For a new hotel, this was not very good.
A lot of people have complained about the food in the hotel, how did you find the food? We and everyone we spoke to said the food was well below par. I had bacon one morning and it was impossible to cut.
How was the entertainment at the Flash Hotel? The bar put on karaoke to bring customers in We and the people we had got to know were not impressed.
What did you find to be the biggest problem with the hotel? The biggest problem was security. We went out to the lifts one morning around 6am to find a drunken couple had come into the hotel on the 3rd floor and it wasn’t their hotel. I was sat in reception when a man walked in and asked a cleaner for the toilet, she told him the way but I never saw him come out. I did not feel safe at all.
How would you rate the hotel team, did you find them friendly? The best thing about the hotel were the bar staff, they were excellent.
The Flash Hotel is a 4 Star hotel, would you agree with this? The hotel is at the very most 2 star
Would you consider returning to the Flash Hotel? No way would we go back BUT it gets great ratings on trip advisor and all the people we spoke to would not return?
What changes would the Flash Hotel need to make for you to return? To go back it would need to be rebuilt with new staff in place. The hotel needs to improve the food and make people feel welcome, and improve security.
