Manchester’s history is known throughout the world. It has a proud history of science, music, arts and sports. One man who helped to put Manchester on the map for music was Anthony Wilson (Tony Wilson) who was a British record label owner, radio and television presenter, nightclub manager, and a journalist for Granada Television and the BBC. Tony Wilson who died on 10 August 2007 was one of the five co-founders of Factory Records which was the home of home of Happy Mondays, Joy Division and New Order. Tony Wilson was also the founder of Haçienda nightclub.
