At a time when UK holiday companies and UK tourist officials are trying to convince the UK holidaymaker to stay in the UK for their summer holidays it seems their message is wasted as Tenerife has seen a 10 per cent increase in the number of UK holidaymakers visiting the popular Spanish destination.
With the cheap flights that are available to Tenerife and with the cheap holiday package deals that the high street travel agent are offering, Tenerife has become a more affordable holiday destination for the UK holidaymaker which explains the reason behind the increase.
2010 was a great year for Tenerife but 2011 was an even better year and now officials for the Tenerife tourist board believe that 2012 will be an even better year with the cheap flights that are available from airports that include Manchester Airport and Gatwick Airport.
According to the Tenerife Tourism Corporation, in 2011 Tenerife welcome nearly 1.66 million British holidaymakers which shows that the Canary Island destination is becoming a huge hit with holidaymakers in the UK.
Tenerife was once upon a time a holiday that only the well-off could afford but now with holidays becoming cheaper to the Canary Island and with more and cheaper flights being available, the popular Spanish destination is now available to everyone.
