Firefighters Tackle Van On Fire in A1 incident near Grantham

  • Van burnt out in A1 incident near Grantham

 

Lincolnshire Fire service confirmed that fire crews from Grantham and Corby Glen attended an incident on the A1 near Grantham this morning (12th September 2021).

Fire crews were called out and attended the scene at 10.25 on Southbound Carriageway at Great Ponton after van was on fire due to a fault.

The fire was extinguished using one hose reel and breathing apparatus.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that all those in the vehicle had got out and were not injured.

Police closed one lane of the carriageway for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident. Due to one lane being closed it caused traffic tailback.

The southbound carriageway has since been cleared.
