TUI has issued Lincolnshire News & Lifestyle a holidays update as the UK travel rules have changed for vaccinated travellers amidst concerns around the new Omicron variant of coronavirus

This morning TUI have issued Lincolnshire News & Lifestyle with a statement for those people living in our area who are concerned about their holidays this winter. The statement was issued due to a change in travel rules announced by the Government due to the new Omicron variant of coronavirus.

The Government issued the new rules that from 4am on November 30, anyone entering the UK will need to take either a PCR or lateral flow test on day two.

The new rules which have been put in place after 11 cases of the new variant have been reported in the UK. It means those people who are vaccinated and go on holiday abroad will need to self-isolate for the first two days after they return.

Those entering the UK will need to take a PCR test on day two of their arrival. They will have to continue to self-isolate until they receive a negative test result.

The rules for those people who are unvaccinated or partially unvaccinated have not changed. Those people will still have to take a pre-departure test and when they return to the UK will have to self-isolate for ten days. They will also have to take a PCR test on days two and eight.

The bad news for those people who are not vaccinated is, they will not be allowed to go on holiday in Spain.

Officials in Spain have announced that anyone who is not fully vaccinated will not be allowed in the country. Please check out the news story here https://in2town.co.uk/bourne-news/holidaymakers-visiting-spain-will-now-need-to-be-vaccinated/

Since the Government broke the news about the new regulations, we have received hundreds of emails from our readers in Scunthorpe, Boston, Grimsby, Grantham, Skegness, and Lincoln who have become concerned about their holiday.

A majority of those people work within the NHS. So, we contacted TUI to see what action they are taking to help people who have booked with them.

TUI have quickly put a plan in action, showing why they are the leading travel company in the UK. They have told Lincolnshire News & Lifestyle that those holiday makers affected will be offered the option to rebook their holiday for free.

A spokeswoman for TUI said: “Our customers are protected by our Holiday Promise which allows customers due to travel before 21 December to amend their holiday to another time for free.”

“Customers travelling up to and including 30 April 2022 can make a change fee-free up until 28 days before you’re due to travel. We recommend checking our website for the most up to date information, or customers can call us or visit one of our stores.”

Anyone who has booked a holiday TUI and are concerned about their holiday should contact TUI straight away or visit one of their high street shops.

The UK government has said they will review this new requirement to enter the UK in three weeks.
