Over 50s Holidays Are Big Business

-

At a time when High Street travel agents are struggling to sell holidays due to the present financial climate and the stiff competition from holidaymakers turning to the Internet for cheaper package holidays, the Over 50s Holidays are now helping the high street travel agents increase their profits.

Amazingly enough, the over 50s holidaymaker has become an important source of income for the travel industry after a study has shown that a third of all holidays booked in the UK are booked by people over 50 years of age.

This can only mean good news for the high street travel agents after their confidence was knocked for six last year with a large number of the high street travel agents finding themselves with unsold holidays.

Unlike the ITV1 show Benidorm, the Over 50s Holiday maker are not just jetting off to Benidorm and other parts of Spain, according to the report which was conducted by LV, the over 50s Holidays include destinations such as the USA and further afield, showing you do not have to be young to be adventurous.

Other positive news for the high street travel agents is, the over 50s holidaymaker has more budget than the younger holidaymaker which means the over 50s holidays are bringing in more revenue than your normal younger customer.

According to the report, the younger traveller will spend on average £528 per person on a holiday while the over 50-holiday maker will spend on average £883, helping boost the travel agents pockets.

Last year the over 50s traveller brought in an incredible £17.6 billion for the travel industry, showing just how important the over 50s holidays are to the high street travel agents.
