Government Confirm DWP Staff Stole Benefits For Pensioners, Disabled People, And Carers
You are not going to believe this, Benefits cash which was intended for pensioners, disabled people, and carers has been stolen by Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) employees. You couldn’t make it up.
An investigation has found that some staff, which obviously could be the ones who drive around with nice cars and live beyond their means have siphoned off benefits money for their own personal gain.
This believe it or not is according to an official government report, £1.7m was lost between April 2024 and March 2025 due to benefit fraud.
The government found that staff were diverting the money that was meant for those at need to their own bank accounts.
Now, the government trying to put a positive spin on it have said it was only a small number of people who were involved in the scam.
The government have not revealed how many DWP staff were involved in the theft of public money, or how many people have been arrested and charged but it has been reported that in 2023 a woman from Liverpool who worked for the DWP was given a suspended sentence after the theft of £7,600.
In 2023, a DWP worker in Sunderland was jailed after stealing over £8,000.
It seems the DWP have a serious problem, and the Government need to start looking in house before they pick on pensioners and disabled people to save money.
