Great news for Lincolnshire Hospitals. Hospitals in Lincolnshire including Boston Pilgrim Hospital and Grantham Hospital will benefit from £12 million of improvements, thanks to a Government funding boost.

The money will be used to refurbished wards, new estates built, and digital solutions updated, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced.

One of the big winners of the funding boost will be Grantham Hospital who will receive £5 million pounds. This will be used for two new laminar flow theatres.

Boston Pilgrim Hospital will also benefit and receive with Grantham Hospital £3.3m to refurbish and to expand their critical surgical wards

£1.1 million will go towards the replacement of the digital cardiology system and £2.5m for an artificial intelligence solution to support triage and management of the patient waiting list. £600,000 for a digital solution to support the MSK pathway

Director of Finance and Digital at ULHT, Paul Matthew, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this additional funding, which we believe will have a huge impact upon the care that we can provide to our patients as well as supporting our valuable staff.

“On top of this, our healthcare system in Lincolnshire has been granted additional funds to establish a new Citizen Atrium, which will help us to work better with our patients to understand how they access support and guidance.

“We are now working up our plans for these developments and proposed timescales.”

Although the funding is welcomed by many of those living in Lincolnshire, those living in Skegness feel their needs have been ignored.

One woman we spoke to in Skegness said she would like to see an investment in the current hospital or to finally have a brand-new hospital built.

Those living in Skegness have to visit Boston if they have a serious injury.
