Amy Winehouse dad, Mitch Winehouse has said he is disgusted with a fashion tribute for his late daughter by fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier. Mitch Winehouse is not the only one who has said the fashion tribute is in bad taste but it seems Jean Paul Gaultier, 60, does not care and instead is trying to profit from the death of the late singer to the disgust of her family, friends and fans.
Mitch Winehouse is shocked over the fashion collection and has accused the fashion designer of attempting to profit from his daughter’s death. Fans have also called for Jean Paul Gaultier to scrap the fashion line.
Mitch Winehouse told the Sun: “The family was upset to see those pictures, they were a total shock. To see her image lifted wholesale to sell clothes was a wrench we were not expecting or consulted on.‘Amy Winehouse Fashion Collection in Bad Taste ‘
“We’re proud of her influence on fashion but find black veils on models, smoking cigarettes with a barbershop quartet singing her music in bad taste. It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best, and glamorises some of the more upsetting times in her life.
“No-one asked us for permission or offered to make a donation to the foundation. This is purely about Gaultier making money, and that’s wrong.”
Jean Paul Gaultier has hit back at the claims and said that the collection was intended as a “joyous” tribute to Amy Winehouse and her status as “an icon of fashion”.
