State Pension Age Could Increase To 71
Warning to people born after 1980. And do sit down when reading this, I don’t want any complaints of people having accidents. The labour government, the caring, sharing, money grabbing Labour Government are currently doing a review of the state pension age and how to reduce the financial impact to the government.
Rachel Reeves wants to increase state pension age to 70 for people born after 1970, but advisors to the chancellor have said this would cause serious problems and many court cases.
The chancellor has now been advised to instead announce means testing the state pension for people born after 1970 while increasing the state pension age for people born after 1980 to 71. That’s right 71. Could you imagine that.
Labour advisors believe the public would be more understanding if the state pension age was increased for people born after 1980 and would give them more time to sort out private pensions if they want to retire before they are 71. Well, isn’t that nice of them?
Rachel Reeves however wants to push ahead with increasing the state pension age to 71 for people born after 1970 but feels that Labour MPs will oppose the move. Do you think? And could instead agree with the advisors to increase the state pension age for people born after 1980.
Denmark state pension age is 70 for people born after 1970 and Rachel Reeves believes the UK should follow Denmark as it would save the government money.
I know what would save the government money. Solve the hotel problem and stop MPs expenses.
Could you imagine working until you are 71. Let’s imagine it for a moment. You have a fire at your house, and you phone 999. Then you wait for them to arrive, and you have a fire engine full of 70-year-old men and women to put out your fire with the fire chief following behind in their mobility scooter.
Raising state pension age to 71 is stupid. The state pension age should be 60 to get our young people off their arse and into jobs and help boost the economy. I don’t want to see 70-year-old police officers chasing criminals down the street in their mobility scooters.
This just shows once again that the Government don’t have a clue how to run the country, and Keir Starmer needs to replace the tea lady and find a chancellor who knows how to do the job.
