  • Barclays has confirmed it will close their Horncastle branch

 

Local residents are angry after Barclays Bank confirmed it will close its Horncastle branch on October 14th, 2022.

The closure of the bank is another blow to the Horncastle High Street and those that use the branch for their banking. However, according to a spokesman for Barclays, the branch has seen fewer customers using their services over the past 12 months.

The spokesman who said the closure of the bank was not an easy one to make. However, they said that there has been a 49 percent reduction in counter transactions over the past 12 months compared to the previous 12 months.

A Barclays spokesperson said: “Customers are increasingly using alternatives to branches to do their banking and, as a result, we are seeing a sustained fall in branch visits across the UK.

At a time that the High Street is struggling after the COVID pandemic, this is the last thing that traders and those living in the Horncastle area wanted to hear.

Barclays Bank have said that customers can use the Barclays app, Telephone Banking, Online Banking and Video Banking. Transactions can also be completed at the local Post Office that is located in the Market Place.
