Tourist bosses in Benidorm who have become worried about the bad reputation Benidorm has been receiving due to the high level of crime in the area are pleased they finally have some good news to shout about. The tourist bosses who have seen holiday makers turn their back on Benidorm due to the high level of pickpockets and muggings that have been happening recently, hope with the news that Benidorm has the second best beach in Spain will help bring back the tourist who have turned their back on the popular holiday destination.

The results were, in numerical order:

Puerto Alcudia, Benidorm, Playa del Ingles, Corralejo, Puerto del Carmen, Salou, Palma Nova, Magalluf, Puerto Rico, and Cala D’Or. Oddly only two of these resorts are on the Spanish mainland, four are in Mallorca and the other four in the Canary Islands.

More good news for Benidorm tourist bosses, Benidorm was voted the 5th best beach in Europe with first place going to Oludeniz (Turkey)

The top ten beaches were:

Oludeniz (Turkey), Icmeler (Turkey), Puerto Alcudia (Mallorca), Bournemouth (UK), Benidorm (Spain), Albufeira (Portugal), Antalya (Turkey), Playa del Ingles, Corralejo and Puerto del Carmen (Canary Islands.
