Men Prefer Playstations to Women

men prefer playstation than women

Women be Scared, be very scared. According to a new Nationwide research of over 1000 men, girlfriends, wives and partners are going to have to spend more time on their own.

The research revealed that, on average, men spend more time playing on their games consoles every month than they do with their girlfriends, mums and even their mates. The study found that just under two thirds of men own a games console of some description and 22% of those men spend a whopping 2.5 days every month in a virtual bubble.

Research commissioned by the UK’s leading independent PS3 videogame and console price compare website has found that more than 1 in 5 men spend an average of 60 hours each month playing on their games consoles, whilst only 4% of guys spend the same amount of time wining and dining their partner.

Only 1% of the 1032 men that took part in the survey by www.PS3PriceCompare.co.uk spent more than 15 hours each week doing something with their parents, whilst more than two thirds were less into family time and only spent up to 2 hours a week with their relations.

When asked “How many hours per week do you spend playing on your games console?” the majority of respondents, 71%, admitted that their PlayStations and similar consoles took up more than 8.5 hours of their week.

Surprisingly, only 17% of blokes spent more than eight and a half hours per week socialising with their friends. However, it appears that the men in question have been making friends in other ways, with 56% using online gaming services to chat and socialise with other players.

Over two thirds of men spend between 8.5 and 10 hours on gaming sessions each week, whilst 13% confessed to playing on their games console for between 10.5 and 15 hours on a weekly basis.

The men that took part in the survey by PS3PriceCompare.co.uk were asked about the amount of quality time they spent each week doing something nice with their girlfriends or partners, such as a meal or cinema date. Nearly 60% of the respondents only spent between 2.5 and 5 hours out with their partner compared to the 7% of men who only spent this amount of time with their games consoles.

Mike Elsmore, head developer of PS3PriceCompare.co.uk commented on these findings,

“As a keen gamer myself, I’m not surprised by these survey results. Whilst 60 hours a month may seem like a long time to spend on gaming sessions, it averages out at less than 2 hours a day.

“When you take into account all of the new and innovative games consoles that have become available on the market, such as the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3, it’s become easier than ever to get hooked on games consoles.

“It came as a bit of a shock that the respondents spent more time with their games consoles than they did taking their partners out, but gaming can be quite addictive.”
