Record Number Of Lincolnshire COVID Cases As NHS Are Struggling

NHS hospitals in Lincolnshire are struggling are COVID cases continue to rise

People living and working in Lincolnshire are calling on Boris Johnson to wake up and start acting to avoid more deaths.

With nearly one thousand new COVID cases recorded in Greater Lincolnshire today (Wednesday 20th October), people are starting to get concerned for the future.

Although Health Secretary Sajid Javid has admitted the UK could see more than 100,000 new COVID cases a day, he has denied that the NHS and hospitals are struggling.

In a press conference, Sajid Javid warned that cases nationally could reach over 100,000 a day in the coming months and hospitalisations were approaching 1,000 a day.

The new cases in Greater Lincolnshire mean the number of COVID cases in our area has reached more than 130,000. Each week the number of new COVID cases continue to rise with no action plan in place to combat it.

This week we have visited supermarkets in Boston, Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Cleethorpes, and Skegness and were surprised at how most people were not wearing face masks.

During our visits, we only saw a handful of staff wearing facemasks. Only around 40% of customers were wearing facemasks, which could be the problem and needs to be addressed.

The latest COVID stats for Lincolnshire are:

965 new cases of coronavirus in Greater Lincolnshire with 713 in Lincolnshire, 112 in North East Lincolnshire and 140 in North Lincolnshire

There has been one death in North East Lincolnshire

Although the Government are denying the NHS is under pressure, those working in the NHS disagree.

Matthew Taylor, head of the NHS Confederation told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that “the health service is right at the edge”.

Lincolnshire News & Lifestyle have spoken to NHS workers across the area including Grimsby, Boston, Grantham, and Scunthorpe. They are calling on the Government to do more and have said they cannot believe the Health Secretary is denying they are under pressure.
