ALMOST 18,000 Orange and loyalist marchers will parade through the streets of central Scotland over three consecutive weekends – with the biggest event taking place this weekend.

Glasgow alone will see 75 separate Orange or loyalist walks througout the entire marching season this year.

Around 18,000 marchers will be on the streets over three weekendsAlan MacGregor Ewing – The Sun Glasgow

The first major event took place last Sunday Sunday, June 26, when 900 marchers paraded through Glasgow city centre from West Regent Street to Cathedral Square.

Four smaller feeder marches set off earlier from the north, south, east and west of the city before gathering in Holland Street ahead of the main procession.

But the busiest day for the city will see an estimated 7,660 marchers take to the streets from  early in the morning this Saturday, July 2, with  42 separate parades due to take place.

In the largest individual event, around 4,075 loyalists will take part in the  County Grand Orange Lodge of Glasgow main parade from George Square to Glasgow Green.

Dozens of smaller marches will take place around the city throughout the day with participants gathering in some areas before 8.00 am while other small parades are due to take place in Kilmarnock and Cumbernauld on the same day.

The following Saturday, July 9, will see Glasgow Green taken over my music revellers as part of the three day TRNSMT festival.

However thousands more Orange and loyalist marchers will be out in force that day in North Lanarkshire.

Almost 9,000 participants will take part in 17 parades throughout the day.

The largest single march will see an 8,000-strong march in Holytown and New Stevenston.
