Eric de Franco has not let the current coronavirus pandemic get him down. The Los Angeles-born singer/songwriter has continued on his mercurial trajectory in the music industry releasing a new music video for his latest single “Ontas”. The Latin pop sensation debuted the music video via YouTube on April 23, and in just a few weeks, has already garnered over 600,000 views.
A day after the “Ontas” music video went live around the globe, the single hit Spotify, Apple Music, and other online music streaming websites. It has received praise from fans for its clever lyrics, upbeat musicianship, and crisp production. Over the top of the Latin drum beats and acoustic guitar chord strumming is De Franco’s hypnotizing vocals. It is an infectious combination of vocals and music that showcase De Franco’s singing ability.
“Ontas” takes listeners on a journey into the lives of two lovers who met in a past life only to meet again after being reincarnated. Such a track would often be considered silly but many fans and music journalists. Yet, De Franco’s vocal style and the song’s drums and guitar strumming give it a fun vibe. It is a song that doesn’t take itself too seriously despite the lyrics of love and loss.
De Franco worked with well-known music producer Stefano Vieni (Danna Paola, Dulce María, and Kalimba) to write and record “Ontas”. According to De Franco, it was Vieni that helped him come up with the catchy urban pop rhythm of the song.
Still in his early 20s, De Franco is finding his feet in the music industry writing and recording songs. He has been writing more new music during the coronavirus pandemic while promoting “Ontas”. The track’s continued success on Spotify and YouTube are encouraging and fans could be in-store for more new music soon.
