“Upon immediate inspection of the new PADI Advanced Course it appears similar to the current PADI Adventures in Diving Program only creating a more direct relationship to the particular specialties chosen and therefore more opportunities for dive operators to sell more Adventure Dives and Specialty courses. There is also more emphasis on the diver themselves planning and preparing the organization and conduct of each Adventure dive.”
Some of the older specialties are completely removed such as the PADI Underwater Photography Adventure Dive and PADI Underwater Videography Adventure Dive, but these have been replaced with the Digital Underwater Imaging Adventure Dive which incorporates both digital photo and video, and of course the Dive still credits for the first dive in the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer course. The Specialty Courses will be updated in the near future.
Instructor now have the chance to introduce divers to new and exciting diving opportunities such as Sidemount, Ice, Cavern, Full Face Mask, Self Reliant, Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB) and Rebreather Adventure Dives or any corresponding specialty which the instructor is certified to teach.
The new Advanced Course allows Instructors to add a range of new interesting Adventure Dives to the course with the aim of allowing students to learn a little more about a specific area of interest and potentially continue the education and take the corresponding Specialty Courses.
It could also be a way to package dives that may be suited to a particular geographical area such as the Ice Diver, Dry Suit Specialty and Full Face Mask Specialty which may be more suited to colder climates. Whereas Dive Propulsion Vehicle Specialty and the Side Mount Specialty may be more suited to reef diving.
The New Advanced Open Water Course Workshop is just one of the many additional workshops added to the PADI IDC Indonesia with Multi Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod. As well as learning the syllabus for the current Adventures in Diving Program alongside an additional workshop dealing with the new course have been adopted and play an essential role in developing new instructors.
