British Airways passengers sue Airbus over emergency landing at Heathrow Airport

British Airways passengers are taking legal action against Airbus and International Aero Engines over an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport.

Passengers on board the British Airways Airbus A319 which had to make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport after the engine caught fire, are taking legal action against the manufactures of the Airbus A319 for “emotional stress, severe psychological trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and a fear of flying.”

At the present moment 10 passengers of the 75 passengers on board the BA Flight 762 from London to Oslo have started legal action against the manufacture.

The incident happened when the cowl doors flew off the engines within minutes of the aircraft taking off from Oslo.

According to reports, insurers have put aside £16.49 million to settle the claim but legal experts have said that it could cost the manufacture more than that.

The writ claims that Airbus was at fault for the incident and was negligent in their design, manufacture, inspection and sale of the aircraft. The legal action also claims that the company was also negligent in failing to warn about the defective doors even though 32 previous incidents have been reported.

A spokesman for Airbus told In2town, “We do not comment on any pending legal action”
