Simon Cowell promised that the X Factor would be bigger and better than last year after the ITV1 talent show did not receive the ratings he was hoping for. With the departure of two prominent X Factor judges which included Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole, ITV bosses were worried that show would fall flat on its arse and they were right. The biggest show for ITV1 fell in the ratings and did not get great reviews due to the lack of talent on the talent show and we are not just talking about the singers. Simon Cowell promised this year’s show would be bigger and better but according to fans of the X Factor, he has failed to deliver.
Some X Factor fans were surprised when ITV and Simon Cowell re-hired Take That singer Gary Barlow to be head judge on the talent show after his miserable performance on last year’s show. Some fans described him as dull while other fans complained his remarks were scripted while insiders on the show claimed the Take That singer was trying to be nasty like Simon Cowell which failed miserably. However the biggest shock out of this year’s X Factor show is the appointment of Nicole Scherzinger which some experts believe was a desperate last minute signing after major and more credible artists refused to take on the role.
Nicole Scherzinger became a shock signing after getting the axe from the American X Factor show leaving some fans wondering if Simon Cowell really cares about the British X Factor show now he has his American baby.
According to some X Factor fans who have attended the audition stages of the show, Nicole Scherzinger is a huge mistake as a judge with some fans of the show taking to twitter describing this year’s show as a big turn off. If the fans are right then Simon Cowell could be forced to pull the plug after this year’s X Factor show has finished, giving him time to look into what has gone wrong with the show. Some insiders have already claimed that this could be the last year for the X Factor show while an ITV source has dismissed the claim.
Nicole Scherzinger, 33, has said she is excited about taking on the full time role a judge on the show while Peter Fincham, Director of Television, ITV, added: 'Nicole will bring her wealth of experience, both as a solo artist, and as a member of a group, to this year's Judging panel.”
Fans of the X Factor show had called on Simon Cowell to bring back Sharon Osbourne but it seems Simon Cowell is gambling on Nicole Scherzinger even though she failed in the American X Factor show.
Some fans have expressed their anger over the appointment of Nicole Scherzinger and are threatening not to watch the show when it returns in August of this year. If fans do turn off this will mean ITV have a bigger problem than last year which saw Strictly Come Dancing beat it in the ratings. If this happens again this year then Simon Cowell and ITV could have a huge problem on their hands with ITV feeling the pinch if advertisers fail to get on board.
