But today a woman who could not handle her addiction to online bingo has been jailed for 16 months for stealing from her employer to fund her online bingo addiction.
Luccienne Mainey, a 41 year old mother, looked shocked as she was given a 16 month jail sentence for stealing from her employer. The online bingo addict stole more than £76,000 to help pay for her addiction.

The court heard that Luccienne Mainey became addicted to bingo after her marriage broke down and when her addiction got out of control she turned to theft to help continue with her online gambling.

The gambling addict who was an accounts administrator for Suffolk based APD Ltd was highly regarded and was a trusted member of the team. The staff and the owners of the firm were shocked when the truth came out and could not believe that a trusted member of staff who the owners known personally could betray them.
At Ipswich Crown Court Luccienne Mainey admitted to five accounts of fraud by fake representation and asked for 25 other offences to be taken into account. The judge said she was a trusted member of staff who committed a gross breach of trust.
He added: 'The message must go out loud and clear from this court to those who might succumb to temptation to steal from those whose money they are in a position of managing.'
