In 2012 over 52 million people visited Spain for their holiday according to the Spanish Tourist Office and 24 per cent of them came from the UK, making the British holiday maker an important ingredient for the Spanish economy.
Spain has seen an increase in the number of people visiting their holiday destinations from the UK, according to travel experts this is down to the holidaymaker getting more for their pound and with Spanish holiday destinations such as Benidorm allowing the holiday maker to eat out and enjoy entertainment at a much affordable price than other popular holiday destinations.
‘UK Holiday Makers Bring Much Needed Money To The Spanish Tourist Industry’
It is not only the British holidaymaker who is taking advantage of the great value that Spain offers, Spanish holiday resorts have seen a huge increase in the number of visitors from Russia and according to the Spanish tourist office, there was a 41 per cent leap in the number of Russian visitors in 2012 compared to 2011.
“Spain is a safe haven for holidaymakers and can offer value for money, glorious weather, security and excellent service – not forgetting hospitality,” the Spanish Tourist Office UK’s Enrique Ruiz de Lera said earlier in the year.
