hot on the heels of yet another fantastic K!-sponsored Download
Festival, which took place last weekend, Kerrang! Magazine are pleased
to announce that the annual Kerrang! Awards, the most debauched,
decadent and rock ‘n’ roll event of the UK’s music calendar will return
on 21 August 2008. Guests of this year’s Kerrang! Awards will be pleased to hear that, for the second year running, the Master of Ceremonies will be Scott Ian from thrash metallers Anthrax. “Just when the hangover from last year was starting to ease off I've been asked to take part in the most debauched of evenings again!! Nothing like hair of the dog to make you feel better. Seriously though, I am really stoked to be hosting the Kerrang! Awards again. Last year was a blast and I am really excited to have the opportunity to be the master of ceremonies this year. I expect nothing less than the apocalypse.” – Scott Ian Last year’s Kerrang! Awards saw a double victory for new rave metal heroes Enter Shikari and San-Fran metal gods Machine Head, plus gongs for Madina Lake, Gallows, 30 Seconds to Mars and Fall Out Boy, plus very special guest appearances and awards for Judas Priest, Deftones and Nine Inch Nails. Who will be taking home these coveted awards this year? Voting starts in Kerrang! Magazine this week so grab a copy and get your thinking caps on! “There’s a million and one music awards ceremonies now, but the Kerrang! Awards is still THE number one date in every self-respecting rock star’s calendar…Everyone wants to claim one of our golden K! trophies.” – Paul Brannigan, Kerrang! Editor With this year’s K!-sponsored Download Festival still ringing in our ears, we can only reflect on the fantastic performances on display at Donington – from a truly unique and mind-blowing set from Friday headliners KISS (complete with fire-breathing, pyrotechnics and over-crowd flying) to Sunday night headliners Lostprophets who proved that Brits are best, plus stellar performances from Biffy Clyro, Bullet for My Valentine, Testament, Dillinger Escape Plan and Cavalera Conspiracy to name but a few. The Kerrang! Signing Tent was rammed to the rafters all weekend with 31 bands cherry picked from the bill plus a special appearance from Tarja on the Sunday. |
