Daniel Powter Releases New Album 'Under The Radar' On September 15th

Daniel Powter’s self-titled debut album sold over 400,000 copies on these shores alone, while his hit single ‘Bad Day’ has recently been named the most played single in the UK from the past five years. Now Daniel Powter can confirm the release his second album, ‘Under The Radar’, on September 15th on Warner Bros. Records.

Produced by Linda Perry (James Blunt, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera), ‘Under The Radar’ is a remarkably consistent collection of songs that really emphasises how Powter’s rich, melodious songwriting has progressed since his debut album. Full of classic pop such as the opening piano-led duo of ‘Best of Me’ and ‘Not Coming Back’, ‘Under The Radar’ also highlights the breezy acoustic guitars of ‘Fly Away’ and the darker tones of ‘Am I Still The One?’, a track that features a rare vocal contribution from Perry.

The album’s first single ‘Next Plane Home’ precedes the album with a September 8th release date and is every bit as immediately infectious as ‘Bad Day’ was.

“Linda was like a therapist,” says Powter of Perry’s renowned skill of cajoling musicians into digging into their emotions for their craft . “I cried in that studio, and she cried. There was frustration because she demanded a lot from me as a songwriter and performer. But she’s a kind, caring, wonderful, and very emotional woman. If you want to make music with her, you have to learn how to take an ass-kicking, and I think that’s what helped me. It was a cathartic experience.”

Daniel Powter’s self-titled debut album became a global phenomenon with almost 3-million sales accumulated. ‘Bad Day’ became an even bigger hit in the States as it embarked upon a five-week run at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and Powter also earned both a Grammy nomination (for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance) and a Brit award nomination (for International Breakthrough Act).
