The organisers of the 2008 Rip Curl Boardmasters are pleased to announce that BBC Radio 1’s Chris Moyles will be broadcasting live to an expected crowd of over 10,000 people at the Rip Curl Boardmasters Unleashed music festival at Watergate Bay on Friday August 8th.

Official media partners, Radio 1 will making their Rip Curl Boardmasters Unleashed debut on Friday August 8th for Chris Moyles’ drive time show between 4 and 7pm live from the Radio 1 stage at Watergate Bay. Radio 1’s stop at the Rip Curl Boardmasters will close a two month summer tour that sees some of the station’s biggest DJ’s visiting the likes of Ibiza, Mallorca, Ayia Napa and Malia.

Event organiser, Andrew Topham, confirmed the return stating, “we are delighted that Radio One consider the Rip Curl Boardmasters to be one of their essential weeks of summer, it really highlights the relevance of the festival to not only Cornwall but also the rest of the UK. Having the festival broadcast live to over 50 million people is an astounding result and we are confident that this will have a positive knock-on effect for both local businesses and the whole of Cornwall.”

Chris Moyles’ breakfast show at the 2006 Rip Curl Boardmasters drew in a record crowd of over 55,000+ people on Fistral Beach and organisers are confident that this year’s association with the radio station will draw a similar crowd to Newquay over that weekend.
