Produced by Memphis legend Jim Dickinson (Rolling Stones, Big Star, Ry Cooder), ‘Anchors & Anvils’ offers a gripping take on folk-rock infused with imaginative steel guitar, understated upright bass and gypsy violin. Commencing with the compelling murder ballad ‘Killing Him’, ‘Anchors & Anvils’ featuring compelling originals from LaVere and collaborator Paul Taylor alongside well crafted interpretations of songs including a wistful take on Bob Dylan’s ‘I’ll Remember You’ and the waltz of late dulcimer legend David Schnaufer’s ‘Tennessee Valentine’.

"All of these songs were speaking to me," Amy comments. "It may be all relationship related, but that was never a conscious thing. I guess that's why I like songs to sometime be a bit theatrical. I want people to be lifted out of their moment in time, taken on a little journey and then put back where they were slightly altered in a good way."

“As a producer, you take the artist out to the edge of the cliff, where they have to learn to trust you," adds Dickinson. "And of course, you push 'em off. A lot of them fall. But Amy has the wings to fly. In fact, I think it's one of the best records I've ever made. There's an underlying darkness that's kind of 'Twin Peaks'-ish to me. Plus she can triple-slap the upright bass like Willie Dixon on steroids."

Born on the borders of Texas and Louisiana, Amy’s family moved to Detroit where she fronted the punk band Last Minute before moving onto the roots duo The Gabe & Amy Show in the nineties. Her debut album ‘The World Is Not My Home’ was released in 2005 to critical acclaim.

Amy has also appeared in two major films; a cameo as Wanda Jackson in ‘Walk The Line’ and a small role alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Christina Ricci and Justin Timberlake in ‘Black Snake Moan’.
